Upland Bird Hunting at Kessler Canyon
Upland bird hunts at Kessler Canyon are a happy meeting of spectacular Colorado scenery, hard-flying birds, friendly and knowledgeable guides and some of the best bird dogs in the industry—all that's missing is you!. Ring-necked pheasants and chukar are our primary quarry species, although the occasional Gambel's quail or grouse may turn up in the bag by the end of the day. Our upland hunts include unlimited harvest of game birds, and hunt areas range from pheasant hideouts on the flats along Brush Creek to classic wild chukar hotspots on the side hills.
Top quality dogs are the heart and soul of our upland hunts. Braces of stylish English and German Shorthaired Pointers will hunt up and point your birds, while flushing and retrieving chores are performed by Labrador Retrievers trained to walk quietly at heel until called to action by your guide. Combining pointers with flushing dogs as bird-finding teams within the discipline of "broken to wing and shot" training adds that extra bit of polish to a day's hunt, and, more importantly, makes for a safer hunt for everyone.
