Big game hunting for trophy bull elk and mule deer atop the Kessler Canyon mesa is an experience you and your companions will treasure as a lifetime memory. All hunts are conducted on 23,000 acres of unfenced private land with tightly controlled access, and guests are guaranteed tags upon booking their hunt. The ranch participates in Colorado’s Ranching for Wildlife program, which allows hunters to use a bow, rifle or muzzleloader. Combo hunts for both elk and mule deer are also available, and all big game hunts include one-on-one guiding. Hunting dates from September 15th through December 31st allows hunting during extended seasons with the unique opportunity to harvest elk/deer during the rut.
Since 2006, hunters at Kessler Canyon have enjoyed greater than a 90% success rate for both elk and mule deer. Bull elk in the 300 point class (SCI measurement) are common - the best bull taken thus far scored 368. Diehard trophy mule deer hunters may be interested to know that at least one 200+ point mule deer has been taken in three of the last four seasons and a score of 180 +/- can be typical.
Access to hunting areas is enhanced by trails suitable for motorized transport, and hunters of all levels of fitness have enjoyed our “spot and stalk” style hunts, or the excitement of calling bugling bull elk into range during the fall rut. For 2010, guest accommodations are in well appointed cabins located at approx. 8,000 ft. where hunters can literally step off the porch and start hunting. All accommodations include gourmet meals prepared by one of our chefs and all the creature comforts required by the discerning sportsman.
